Announcing our 2017 Summer Service Project — I need your help!

Dear Buddee Bags Supporters,

I am so excited to announce the 2017 Summer Service Project!  My American Sewing Guild friends and I are going to be sewing 100 drawstring Buddee Bags for children and teens at Shriners Hospitals.  My goal is to fill each bag with their most requested items!  I hope this project brightens the day for those in extended hospital stays.  I appreciate your help!

Here’s a flyer that lists all the ways you can help:

A Successful Food Packaging Event!

Hi, everyone!

I recently coordinated a food packaging event at my school for the disadvantaged.  To cover the costs ($3,000), I applied for and received grants from Disney and Sodexo.  With the help of my principal, we also ran a fundraiser at school to make up the rest!

The event was yesterday afternoon — it was a HUGE success!   Our team of volunteers packaged nearly 10,000 meals!

Channel 6, Channel 10, and WFMZ69 were all there with news cameras!  I was also interviewed!

Here’s the link to the story by WFMZ69:

My school district honored me for the food packaging event.  Click here to read about that.  Below is a picture of me and my family with my principal and superintendent at the Board Meeting where I was recognized!  Thank you, Pennridge!

Thank you to the Bucks County Herald, the Upper Bucks Free Press, The News-Herald, and The Reporter for also covering the food packaging event.  Each newspaper has a terrific story about the event online.  The links are below!

A very BIG thank you to my principal, my teachers, and to all the students at my school for helping make this happen!

Aid For Friends

Hello everyone! Happy 2017!  I hope you are all having a wonderful year so far.

I wanted to share that today my brother Sam and I had an opportunity to help out the amazing charity Aid For Friends.  The mission of Aid for Friends is to alleviate the hunger and loneliness of isolated homebound individuals.  Tonight we helped by preparing 12 meals with pasta, meatballs, and green beans.

All donations delivered!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer.  The last of the donations for my Bat Mitzvah project have been delivered! I wanted to give you all an update.

DoyleDoylestown donationsstown Hospital received the drawstring bags and several boxes of individual toiletries, deodorant, hats and gloves, and sanitizers to be distributed to people experiencing homelessness.

Pennridge FISH received 90 pounds of food, toiletries, over 300 diapers, wipes, and boxes of school supplies, activity books, games, and stuffed animals!

I also donated $300 from my Bat Mitzvah to a wonderful organization, Mayan Families.  The money will be used to buy sewing machines to teach young women how to sew and also to support children who need new walkers and wheelchairs.

We’re back!

Hello and Happy Winter! Sorry I have not posted in a while – over the last few months, I moved and also started at a new school!

I have still been very busy with Buddee Bags and thank you for your support.  I have had so many volunteers from the American Sewing Guild help me sew! I am including some pictures from the last few months to let you know what I have been up to.

In November, I donated 25 neck pillows to the patients at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

On January 18, as part of the MLK Day of Service, I went to the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia with my Grandmom and Marlene to drop off items we made.  We donated wheelchair and walker bags, children’s neck pillows and heart-shaped pillows, and pillowcases.

Be on the lookout for a new service project in the next few days – I’d love your help!

Make a Difference Day 2015

Happy Fall!  It has been a while since I updated my site and I am sorry for that! Even without a post, BuddeeBags has been going well.  I will try to share some of the summer highlights with you.

First, over the summer we were able to donate a number of bags and pillows to people who emailed me for them.  I also made bags for the start of the school year for my school and another local school district for students with wheelchairs and walkers.

Another exciting piece of information to share is that I entered a Buddee Bag and a pillow into the Middletown Grange Fair (along with a number of other items) and both items (actually everything I entered!) won a ribbon! I was so proud and also so happy to share these items with everyone.

The reason I wanted to write this post today was to share some information about a very important day tomorrow that I will be participating in like I did last year.  Working with my mom and grandma, we have a number of volunteers coming to help sew and stuff tomorrow for the national Make a Difference Day.  I will post some pictures after the event but I want to encourage everyone to help out tomorrow in some way either with my project or another one to make the world a better place.

Ronald McDonald House

Thanks to a grant from the Karma for Cara Foundation, I was able to make some really cute children’s bags and pillows for kids in the hospital.  A few weeks ago, I sent a bunch of bags and pillows to the Children’s Hospital in Boston.  Today I went to the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia to drop off some more. They were a big hit! I donated wheelchair and walker bags, heart shaped pillows and neck pillows.

My brother also came along – he donated a whole bag of beanie babies and stuffed toys.  They leave a basket of these small toys at the entrance so children who come have something to play with.

We were very fortunate to have a volunteer give us a tour and show us all of the wonderful things they do for the families of children who are being treated at local hospitals.
