My Winter Project Is Complete!

Thank you to everyone who helped to support my Winter Project, supporting children in Foster Care through The Fiaria Project!  This was a huge team effort and we are going to make such a difference in so many children’s lives in Bucks County!

In total, I was able to collect well over $2,000 worth of clothing and baby items for kids in need.  My friends in the American Sewing Guild helped to sew 65 pillowcases, 35 tissue holders and 15 burp cloths which will provide a special handmade addition to this delivery!

I’ve included pictures of many of the items below along with our grand totals.

Thank you again to everyone who helped!  I’ll be posting pictures of the delivery soon!

Love,
Madeline

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a happy holiday and that 2018 is off to a great start!

Just before Christmas, I had a chance to visit with the residents of Rockhill Mennonite and delivered over 50 Buddee Bags, neck pillows, and tissue holders.  They were all very thankful and enjoyed picking out their favorite patterns and colors.  It was a very nice way to start the holiday break.

I am also still collecting items and donations (see below for needed items) for my Winter Project to support children in foster care through the Fiaria Project.

For my sewing friends – I am also making pillowcases, bibs, and burp cloths to donate as well!

I will be delivering items at the end of the month so please consider donating so that we can make a tough time a little easier for some great kids.

Thanks — Happy New Year!

Announcing My Winter Project… With Help from Our Friends at Disney!

I am excited to announce that I was once again awarded a grant from Disney to continue my work with Buddee Bags! I am so thankful for the incredible support from Disney and for the recognition of my service to the community.

I have spent the last few days thinking about a new project that will help children in my community.  I have decided to help support The Fiaria Project  as my winter service project!  The Fiaria Project is an amazing organization that focuses on “making placement transitions easier for foster families in the Bucks County and Philadelphia area by providing foster children with essential clothing, toiletries, and other basic items.”

When children are placed into foster care (one child every two minutes in the USA!) they often don’t have time to gather any items to take with them.  Buddee Bags is going to help by making these transition kits for children in Bucks County.

YOU CAN HELP!

I will be sewing handmade pillowcases, burp cloths, and drawstring bags to donate to the project.  I am hoping that a special pillowcase to call their own may be a small way to help these children feel loved and cared for.  There are many other items needed to make the transition kits.  Any donations will help. I’ll be updating this page as I receive donations in order to let everyone know the most needed items.  As always, if you prefer to send a donation, I will buy the supplies needed to complete the kits.

2017 Young Citizens Award

On Friday, November 17th, I had the incredible honor of being presented a 2017 Young Citizen Award by the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.  According to the Chamber, this award “recognizes youth for their exceptional commitment to principles of good citizenship and community involvement.”

I was presented the award by the Bucks County District Attorney and representatives from the Chamber.  I also received a Certificate of Commendation from my state senator and a House of Representatives Citation from my state representative.  I’ve included a few pictures from the ceremony!

Thanks for your continued support of Buddee Bags!  Stay tuned for my next project coming soon!

Successful Diaper Delivery!

Thank you again to everyone who participated in my fall service project!

Yesterday, I met with Pat from The Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank and delivered over 1875 diapers and too many wipes to count!  They will all be going to local families in need.

Also, I donated over 100 handmade bibs and burp cloths thanks to my friends in the American Sewing Guild and their support at my community sewing day a few weeks ago.  These items will all be delivered to families through a great organization called  Lily’s Hope Foundation.  Lily’s Hope supports premature babies and their families and I am so happy to be able to help!

Thank you again for all of your support! I can’t do it without you!  Be on the lookout for my next project… coming soon!

Make a Difference Day is coming – there’s still time to help!

First, I want to thank everyone who has helped with my Fall service project, collecting diapers and wipes for the Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank.  If you wanted to help but haven’t had a chance – there’s still time!

Make a Difference Day is on October 28, 2017 and my project has been approved as a project.  That means I will be extending the collection until the end of October!

Please consider donating diapers of any size (even adult diapers!) and wipes to this worthy organization.  If you don’t have time to shop, you can always donate through PayPal and I will pick them up!

I already have over 100 handmade bibs and burp cloths to donate plus nearly 1,000 diapers.  Can you help me reach my goal of 1,500 diapers?  I know we can do it!

A Little Help From My Friends!!!

Thanks to all of my friends in the American Sewing Guild!  With their very generous support on Saturday,  we were able to sew more than 120 burp cloths and bibs to donate to the Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank!    I posted some photos below.

That’s great news!  But, I still need your help!

I asking that each one of my followers donate one package of diapers (any size, any brand, baby, toddler, or adult) and one package of baby wipes (any size, any brand) to our current fall service project!

Imagine how many diapers and wipes we can collect to help our neighbors!

I’ll be collecting diapers and wipes through October 15th.

Contact me and we can coordinate a pick up.  My email is [email protected]

You can also give them to my parents or grandparents!

Of course, you can also donate through my PayPal page and I can use the money to buy the diapers!

Thanks for your support!

Shriners Hospital Donations are dropped off!

I am so excited to report that all of the items made and collected as a part of my Summer of Service project for Shriners Hospital were dropped off yesterday!

Thanks to some help from my American Sewing Guild friends, I met my goal and delivered 100 handmade drawstring bags!

Also, thanks to the incredibly generous donations of so many of you, I was able to donate over 200 other toys,  games, books, electronics, gift cards, etc. to the children at this amazing hospital.

Check out the photos in the gallery below!

While I was there, I met Joy, a woman who works for the hospital.  Joy took my mom, my grandma, my grandpa, and me on a behind the scenes tour that was amazing! I saw many of the ways they help kids at Shriners, all without cost to the patients.  I am just so happy that all of these items will be given to these wonderful kids.

Thank you all for your support of Buddee Bags, keep an eye out for my next project coming this fall!

Project Update – Help still needed!

Happy August!

My project for Shriners Hospital is still going strong. As I said before, it is my goal to make 100 drawstring bags for the children there and to fill them with the most requested items from the hospital wishlist.

Thanks to some amazing support from my grandmom and my friends in the American Sewing Guild, I now have 80 bags! You can see some of them in the pictures below.

Also, thanks to the generous donations I have received so far, we have many items from the wishlist including some new board games, Phillies/Eagles clothing, earbuds, DVDs and arts and crafts projects.

There is still time to help! I will be making the delivery on August 25. I could still use the following items, or monetary donations which will allow me to purchase the items:

Batteries (AAA, C and D)
Itunes gift cards ($15 or less)
Walmart/Target gift cards ($15 or less)
MDonald’s gift cards ($15 or less)
Card games
Baseball caps and T-shirts with professional/college logos (Adult L, XL, XXL)

Thank you for your continued support!
